At R&B Switchgear Group, we believe that true innovation thrives in diverse and inclusive environments. As a business operating at the forefront of engineering solutions, we recognise the vital role that women play in shaping the future of STEM industries. That’s why we’re committed to driving positive change, breaking down barriers, and building an industry where talent is nurtured regardless of gender.
We were proud to be represented at the Women in STEM Conference 2025, held at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, by Raphael Essiet, Senior Project Engineer from our Aberdeen division. This prestigious event brought together professionals, academics, and students to celebrate the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, while also addressing the challenges that remain.
“I attended the Women in STEM Conference 2025 at RGU Aberdeen, where R&B Switchgear Group was invited by Dr Chika Judith Abolle Okoyeagu PhD CEng FIMechE SFHEA FWES. At R&B, we champion diversity and inclusion, with women actively contributing to our engineering services. Notably, our female engineers and apprentices are making remarkable strides, enhancing our service delivery. I’m proud to be part of a company that supports and empowers women in STEM.”
Raphael Essiet, Senior Project Engineer
His presence at the conference not only highlighted the Group’s dedication to inclusivity but also served as a powerful reminder of the role that allies play in advancing equity in the workplace.

Across all divisions of R&B Switchgear Group, we are seeing first-hand the impact of a more balanced workforce. Women in engineering roles – from apprentices to senior engineers – are bringing fresh perspectives, technical excellence, and leadership that enrich our services and our culture. By fostering an inclusive environment, we’re creating a space where all employees can thrive, contribute, and develop their full potential.
The Women in STEM Conference provided a vital platform to share best practices, engage in meaningful dialogue, and explore collaborative solutions for driving gender equity in engineering. As an organisation, we remain dedicated to supporting these initiatives and championing diversity at every level.
This event is just one of many steps we’re taking as part of a wider mission: to ensure the future of engineering is built on talent, inclusivity, and equal opportunity.

We are proud to stand with those working to transform the industry, and we will continue to play our part in shaping a brighter, fairer future for engineering.
