North West water Giant, United Utilities has appointed R&B Switchgear Group (R&B) to undertake the service & maintenance of its electrical power systems at over 600 of their dedicated water treatment sites.
The three-year contract will see R&B deliver planned preventative maintenance checks, equipment repairs, replacements, upgrades, and emergency services at 575 wastewater sites and 96 water treatment locations across the region.
United Utilities is the UK’s pinnacle provider of water and wastewater services and their regional footprint spans 3.2 million homes across Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, and parts of Derbyshire.
R&B was successfully awarded the contract following a competitive tender process where they demonstrated their expansive utilities experience, achieving the highest scores against the technical submission criteria.
R&B’s dedicated team will now manage the service & maintenance of United Utilities’ power distribution network, including HV & LV switchgear, transformers, protection and control systems, as well as providing any necessary cabling and equipment upgrades.
